Save the Planet
Year made: 2023
Designed: pixel animation
This project was my final major project for my final year in college, for this project the main message I wanted to get across was about helping to save the environment, the main values behind the save the planet initiative was to connect with the younger generation through new engaging ways, the pixel animation I made being the start of this, using the art style to make it seem more gamified which could entice the younger audience.

The concept
The concept behind the overall design was to create a 14 key frame animation showing how the smoke from the chimneys I distributed showing how numerous types of smoke that is produced from numerous things in our world and how they could potentially affect the world if not dealt with.
I made a lot of pipes in the world with a mix of purples this was to try and make this world I made look more futuristic. I also made this city more vertical as well to add that more unrealistic in terms of where we are at in the world currently this further enforces the idea that this is in some distant future. This piece of work was created in 1080px by 1080px so this would be best used on Instagram.

A Still Image
Here is a Png still image of the design, the main benefit of having this as a still image is that it is easily editable, and you can easily add a new background colour to this easily which can alter the meaning of this image. Have the background blue to gives the impression of this world is healthy with no pollution; make this background a bleak grey it shows how polluted the world has become and changes the framing of the message.

Typeface
This is my own custom typeface I made for this specific project, the reason for this was to make this fit in with the overall aesthetic of the design as this was a pixel art design I wanted the typeface I created to fit the overall look of my design. The black outline around the words was to make the letters stand out amongst the background; I lowered the opacity of the white lettering within the black outlines to create the smoky effect as within the design the words are made out of the rising smoke.

Primary colour palette
For my primary colours I used a mixture of light and dark colours in this piece, some other colours I have not included in these as most other colours were primarily used to change tone and how different sides of the buildings were lighted. The bright colours I used here were mainly used to show originally how bright this small world I created before the pollution takes a hold.
Most of the greys that are in the primary colour palette are used to colour the chimneys and shows the degradation of the clean air that once made the small world so bright, the greys symbol the objects that created the horrible smoke as well as showing the perfect blue sky becoming a polluted mess.
